ITMS Career Expo Recap
Flagler Schools

PALM COAST, FL — Indian Trails Middle School (ITMS) was buzzing with energy today as more than 450 students participated in the 2nd Annual Indian Trails Middle School Career Expo. The event, held in partnership with the Flagler County Education Foundation, provided a vital bridge between middle school education and the specialized "Programs of Choice" available at Flagler County’s high schools.

Connecting Classrooms to Careers
The Expo is a cornerstone of the Flagler County Education Foundation’s Classroom to Careers program,
which aims to provide students and families with early exposure to diverse professional pathways. By
showcasing the specialized programs offered at each high school, the event helps students make informed
decisions about their upcoming high school registrations.

"We are so excited to see our students engaging with their future today," said a representative from
Flagler Schools. "This Expo isn't just about looking at brochures; it's about real interaction between our
students, our high school programs, and the local business community that will one day employ them."

Interactive Learning and Community Engagement
The event featured a diverse array of participants, including:

  • Flagler Schools Programs of Choice: Highlighting specialized tracks from local high schools.
  • Local Businesses: Providing real-world context for career paths.
  • Non-Profit Organizations: Showcasing community service and advocacy opportunities.

To encourage active participation, students utilized a "Passport" system. As they visited various tables,
they engaged with representatives to earn stamps. Completed passports were entered into a drawing for
gift cards, turning the exploration of future careers into a rewarding and interactive challenge.

A Community-Wide Effort

The Expo was designed to be inclusive of the whole family. While students explored the hall from 8:30va.m. to 10:00 a.m., parents were invited to join from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to learn alongside their children and ask specific questions about the academic tracks available.

The Flagler County Education Foundation expressed deep gratitude to the local vendors and organizations that made the event possible. To show appreciation for the community partners, a grab-and-go lunch was provided to all vendors following the conclusion of the event.
