The Federal Pell Grant is available to students at FTC who are enrolled in the following programs and need financial assistance for tuition, lab and program fees:

• Cosmetology
• Early Childhood Education
• Heavy Equipment Operations Technician
• Medical Assisting

Eligibility

Students must have a high school diploma or GED, complete the financial process before the financial aid deadline and have satisfactory progress and attendance throughout the program. 

The Florida Governor’s Council on Indian Affairs (FGCIA) provides employment and training assistance for American Indians/Native Americans, Native Alaskans, and Native Hawaiians.

The council is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization that operates the Employment and Training Program as a Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Native American grantee through the U.S. Department of Labor. The organization is responsible for the allocation and distribution of this funding to economically disadvantaged, underemployed, or unemployed American Indians/Native American, Native Alaskans, and Native Hawaiians who are seeking training assistance within the states of Florida and Georgia.

The Florida Public Postsecondary Career Education Student Assistance Grant (FSAG-CE) is a need-based, state-funded grant and is utilized for fees, books and supplies. FSAG-CE grant monies are limited and are based on need and availability of funds.

All students must apply for the Federal Pell Grant, be a Florida resident and a U.S. Citizen or eligible non-citizen, and enrolled in a certificate program of 450 or more clock hours to be eligible to receive the FSAG-CE grant. Students must maintain acceptable GPA and attendance (per SAP) throughout the program.

The Teacher Education and Compensation Helps (TEACH) Early Childhood Scholarship Program is funded by the Florida Office of Early Learning. The program provides scholarships for early care educators to work toward earning an associate and/or bachelor degree or credentials in early childhood education.

The Flagler Technical College Scholarship helps local students in financial need achieve success through career and technical education. 

The scholarship is funded by proceeds generated from the Flagler Home & Lifestyle Show, FTC fundraising events, and charitable contributions. FTC Scholarship award amounts vary depending on available funding, and the financial need of the applicant. Scholarships may be used to assist students with funding their education at Flagler Technical College. Awards will only cover a portion of a qualifying student’s tuition/materials expenses.

Eligibility

Eligibility is based on one of the following criteria: major academic improvement, overcoming extreme hardship, and/or excellent attendance. Students must be accepted as a student at FTC, complete a FAFSA application, demonstrate a need for funding, and be a resident of Florida for at least one year.

Applications

Scholarship applications may be requested from the FTC Financial Aid Specialist. Students must complete a scholarship application, submit an essay, and complete an interview process to be considered for a scholarship award. Please read all rules and instructions carefully—only fully completed applications will be accepted for review.

FTC scholarships are awarded as funds are available, and are based on the scholarship committee’s approval. Scholarships may be renewable upon presentation of the previous semester's grades showing successful completion of the courses.

Open Door Grant Program 

The Open Door Grant Program (ODGP) is a financial aid program for students at a school district Postsecondary Technical Career Center to incentivize current and future workers to enroll in career and technical education programs that lead to a credential, certificate, or degree on the Master Credential List.

 This opportunity offers students in eligible programs a maximum award amount equal to 100% of tuition, fees, assessment costs, books and supplies, not otherwise covered by federal/state grants or other third party payment. This is subject to the availability of funds.

 Student Eligibility: Students must meet the following criteria in order to receive Open Door Grant Program Financial Assistance funds. 

• You have applied and intend to register in an “Eligible” program, or are currently registered in an “Eligible” program.  
• You are a Florida Resident for one year (Proof of Residency required)  
• You are aware that Open Door Grant Program (ODGP) funds are applied after federal and state grants to cover a maximum award equal to the amount needed to cover 100% of tuition and fees, exam or assessment costs, books and supplies.
• You understand that Open Door Grant Program (ODGP) funds are subject to availability

The Northeast Florida Community Action Agency (NFCAA) is dedicated to establishing mutually beneficial partnerships that connect families to available resources, stabilize vulnerable households, and promote healthy families and communities. NFCAA makes a difference in the lives of low-income people and the communities in which they live.

Part of NFCAA's program to promote self-sustainability includes providing financial support for FTC students who qualify for their program.

The Bureau of State Approving Agency for Veteran Training has approved FTC to provide certificate training programs to qualified veterans and their dependents who are eligible for education benefits. Veterans should check with the VA School Certifying Official in the Financial Aid office to apply for, or re-activate their VA educational entitlements.

U.S. Military Veterans may be eligible for a wide range of benefits through the VA. Visit the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs website for more information about training and benefits for veterans.

The Florida Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) is a division of the Department of Education. VR is a federal-state program that helps people who have physical or mental disabilities get or keep a job.

Students may be eligible for VR services if their goal is to become employed and their physical or mental disability interferes with their ability to become employe. If a student receives Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) for their disability, they are presumed eligible for VR services. For information about VR financial aid opportunities, visit the Vocational Rehabilitation website.
